About Estephani
Estephani Cano is a bilingual journalist and documentary filmmaker from Medellín, Colombia, based between Florida and New York. Her work centers on Latino experiences, with a focus on immigration, politics, and the systems that impact underrepresented communities. She has interviewed presidential candidates, survivors of mass violence, community leaders, and grassroots organizers, producing reporting that has earned national recognition. Her work has appeared in Univision, Telemundo, CNN, The Miami Herald, Refinery29, and other major outlets.
She has covered the U.S.–Mexico border crisis, voter disenfranchisement, the Orlando nightclub massacre, and the double racism faced by Afro-Latinos, among many other stories. She leads every stage of the storytelling process — from investigation and field reporting to producing, filming, and editing. Today, she works independently, developing her first documentary film and growing her studio, ECANO Media, where she continues to create investigative, character-driven stories that elevate overlooked voices.
